Welcome to Worldwide Moment Launceston

With the website about to go live and our twitter and facebook accounts just created, it's time to get the ball rolling on Worldwide Moment Launceston. For those of you who don't know, Worldwide Moment is an annual photography event which began in 2007 as a way of promoting peace through the global community by the annual creation of synchronised works of art. WWM asks participants to take a photograph at a predetermined time and then email it to them for inclusion on an online gallery. This year's time is 10.10.10 10.10am GMT. More information on them can be found here.

'But what is Worldwide Moment Launceston?' I hear you ask. Worldwide Moment Launceston (or wwml as I like to call it) is a Launceston-based community photography event running in conjunction with Worldwide Moment. On Sunday 10.10.10 9.10pm we want you to take a photo. We're hoping to create a snapshot of the Launceston community at that time so don't worry if you can't think of anything 'special' to photograph. Then, email us the photographs and we will upload them on to our online gallery, to the main WWM website's gallery. Also, we will set up drop off points around town so if you used a Polaroid or film camera you'll be able to hand them in there and we'll scan and upload the photos for you. Lastly (and this in my opinion is the most exciting bit) we'll be printing up all, yes ALL, of the photos we receive and exhibiting them in Launceston in early 2011. (Obviously we will not be uploading or exhibiting any obscene or otherwise offensive photographs so please don't send them in.)

Over the coming months we look forward to telling you more about wwml, our community partners and the people behind the project. In the interim, you can find us here, here and here.
